Fiber Reinforced Composite “As a Conservative Dental Bridge”

Background
Currently, prosthetic replacements of anterior or posterior edentulous segments present an aesthetic challenge to clinicians. Several treatment options are available today. Implants being one of most common choices today, but have several limitations such as, the inability to place it in patients below the act of 18 years or before the end of the growth period and expensive compared to other options. Removeable partial dentures are economically affordable, but for young patients it is not comfortable option. Traditional fixed partial denture like porcelain pushed to metal (PFM) bridge or Maryland brigde are considered as good options.
However there is an increased compromise to the tooth structure, need for multiply appointments, difficulty to repairs, and high cost. The ability of clinicians to restore these edentulous with a direct method of application, would eliminate or greatly reduce many of those obstacles. The latest technique which less invasive, aesthetic and economically affordable is fiber reinforced composite (RFC) as conservative dental bridge. Is is also a good alternative to conventional fixed bridge. Unreinforced composite resin when use it as a primary structure to build a new tooth, does not possess adequate strength and can crack and fracture easily. Hence, it is necessary to employ the use of composite resin and reinforced with fiber in order to increase structural strength and toughness. The management of specific situations is explained, as is obtaining optimal result with simple techniques by keeping to fundamental guidelines. This lecture and workshop will provide a detailed description of the complete clinical procedure along with a discussion of each outcomes.
